Senate confirms Dominguez as PHMSA administrator

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday confirmed President Obama's nomination of Marie Therese Dominguez as administrator of the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

Dominguez has been principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works in the Department of Defense since 2013. Prior to that position, she was vice president for government relations and public policy for the U.S. Postal Service from 2007 to 2013.

In addition, she served stints at Fieldworks LLC, the Forward Together political action committee, Resource Consultants Inc., Federal Aviation Administration, the White House, and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Dominguez’s appointment drew praise from Association of American Railroads President and Chief Executive Officer Ed Hamberger.

"On behalf of America's freight-rail industry, we congratulate Ms. Dominguez on her confirmation and we look forward to working with her on the ongoing focus on safety that is of significant importance to the nation’s freight railroads," said Hamberger.
