FTA, Metropolitan Council update report on business impact during Green Line construction

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Metropolitan Council have unveiled their supplemental final environmental impact statement (SFEIS) for the Central Corridor light-rail project in the Twin Cities known as the Green Line.

The statement provides information on various ongoing construction mitigation programs and includes feedback received during a public comment period and two public hearings held earlier this year, council officials said in a press release.

The hearings involved testimony on the supplemental draft EIS pertaining to construction-related impacts on business revenue along the Central Corridor. The SFEIS is the response from the FTA and Metropolitan Council to those comments.

The SFEIS will be open for public comment through July 8. Later this summer, the FTA expects to issue an amended record of decision, which will conclude the process of evaluating and mitigating the impact on business during the Green Line project. Construction is 92 percent completed and the line is scheduled to open in mid-2014.
