CN this week released the first annual report on its 2025-2027 Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan (IRAP).

The report details the actions CN took in 2025 to strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities across its network. The annual report and the IRAP are available to download on CN's Indigenous relations webpage.

CN announced the 2025-2027 IRAP in late 2024. The first of its kind, the plan consists of commitments CN has made to better its partnerships and reconciliation with Indigenous communities, CN officials said in a press release.

Commitments fall under five categories: cultural awareness and employee engagement; people and employment; economic reconciliation; community engagement and relationships; and environmental stewardship, safety and sustainability. Each of the commitments has a number of action items to achieve them, with target completion dates spanning 2025 through 2027.

In 2025, CN completed 20 of the 24 action items scheduled for the year, and the remaining actions were rescheduled. CN also finished two actions originally planned for 2026 and 2027 ahead of schedule, officials from CN said.

Among completed actions, CN in 2025 developed an Indigenous employment strategy; implemented an Indigenous engagement questionnaire into all Canadian requests for proposals; developed land acknowledgements for all CN locations; hosted three events to share information about CN's procurement process with Indigenous suppliers and businesses; conducted a feasibility study and developed a procedure for potential land returns; and developed a strategy to support Indigenous organizations, events and programs.

"While we are proud of the progress we have made, we remain determined to continue to challenge ourselves and remain focused on building stronger relationships with Indigenous communities," said CN President and CEO Tracy Robinson.
