BNSF partners with NFI for Barstow International Gateway logistics services

BNSF Railway and supply chain solutions provider NFI have partnered to provide integrated access to transportation, warehousing, distribution and transload solutions within the future Barstow International Gateway (BIG) rail facility.

To be located in Southern California, BIG is a planned logistics hub designed to seamlessly connect freight moving through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach with destinations throughout the United States, BNSF officials said in a press release. 

"By combining BNSF's intermodal network with NFI's logistics expertise, we can help customers speed up their network, unlock new efficiencies while improving network resiliency with greater flexibility in how freight moves from origin to destination," said BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel.

Based out of Camden, New Jersey, NFI owns and operates over 70 million square feet of warehouse space and a fleet of 5,100 tractors and 13,000 trailers. NFI's portfolio of logistics services will complement the capabilities available through BIG, helping shippers simplify operations and improve supply chain coordination, BNSF officials said.

Together, BNSF and NFI will support businesses seeking scalable solutions that integrate port drayage, transportation, warehousing and distribution into a single logistics ecosystem, they added.
