Rail supplier updates from Bombardier, Colo Railroad, Siemens, Gannett Fleming and Jacobs Associates (Sept. 14)

For the sixth consecutive year, Bombardier has been chosen as an index component in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, which are benchmark indicators of sustainability, according to a company press release. Also, for the first time, Bombardier was named a "sector leader" in the aerospace and defense sector. The ranking follows a comprehensive sustainability assessment — conducted by Dow Jones and Swiss company Sustainable Asset Management — which evaluates the company's sustainability performance based on economic, environmental and social criteria.

Colo Railroad Builders has appointed Wade Hoffman vice president of business development. Most recently, Hoffman served as general manager of Hulcher Services in Houston. His previous positions include senior sales and marketing executive, and business development manager. Hoffman also previously served Union Pacific Railroad, where we was business manager of industrial products, account manager of chemicals and a conductor.

After more than four years leading Siemens' Rail Systems and Mobility Divisions, Hans-Jürg Grundmann has been named chief compliance officer of Siemens AG. He will succeed Josef Winter, who has been appointed chief executive officer of Siemens' regional company in Indonesia. In addition, Jochen Eickholt has been appointed CEO of the Rail Systems Division in the Infrastructure and Cities Sector. All the personnel changes will take effect Oct. 1, the start of Siemens’ fiscal year.

William Fryer and James O'Keefe have joined Gannett Fleming Transit & Rail Systems in the Rocky Hill, Conn., office. Fryer is a senior overhead catenary system engineer responsible for providing design and analysis of such systems' features and structures. He has more than 24 years of experience. O'Keefe is a senior signal designer responsible for coordinating signal design and construction of train control systems and systems integration. He has than 16 years of experience, including signal system analysis studies.

Jacobs Associates promoted the following individuals to the lead associate level: Renee Fippin, who has 14 years of experience and specializes in geotechnical and structural excavation support design; Jeremy Johnson, who has 15 years of experience in geotechnical, civil and environmental engineering; Bhaskar Thapa, who has 14 years of experience in the design and construction of underground structures for highways, subways, water supply and sewer systems, and hydroelectric generation; and Sara Wilson, who has 13 years of experience in the design and construction of underground structures, primarily for water supply and transit-rail projects.
