The Texas North Western Railway Co. (TXNW), a subsidiary of TNW Corp., late last month marked the completion of its $8.2 million Etter improvement project.

The project involved rebuilding and expanding the rail interchange in Etter, Texas, to improve rail safety, enhance fluidity and increase capacity for rail shipments in Moore County and the surrounding areas. The improvements are expected to attract new businesses, support job creation and improve the region’s ability to be a leader in national and international markets, TXNW officials said in a press release.

Infrastructure upgrades included modernizing the railroad crossing at Birch Avenue, installing multiple power switches and turnouts, and extending two interchange tracks to 8,500 feet long.

The project was funded by a $4.2 million grant issued through the Federal Railroad Administration's Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program and matching funding from TXNW.
