TMCA hands out 'Compass' marketing/communication awards


The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) recently named 79 winners of the 2008 Compass Awards. Presented in 10 categories, the awards recognize North American transportation and logistics firms that created "innovative and results-oriented" marketing and communications programs.

Out of more than 200 entries, about 8 percent received awards of excellence and 29 percent won awards of merit. Award recipients will be honored June 3 at TMCA's annual conference at the Ponte Vedra Inn near Jacksonville, Fla.
 
The association named the following winners by category:

• Integrated Communications — Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, CirclePoint, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Freight, GO Transit, GROUP1201, GRTC Transit System, Hyundai Translead, KG Partners, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA), Marcus Thomas L.L.C., McLeod Software, MTA New York City Transit, Ozburn-Hessey Logistics, Regional Transportation Commission, Riverside Transit Agency, Werner Enterprises and YRC North American Transportation

• Single Advertisement — Port Freeport, Texas Department of Transportation and Thompson Marketing

• Advertising Campaign — Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), KG Partners, LA MTA, Majic Consulting Group, Port of New Orleans, Port of Seattle, The Johnson Group, The T (Fort Worth Transportation Authority), U.S. XPRESS, Versant, Virginia Railway Express and XPRESS DIRECT
