The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) board earlier this week unanimously elected Broward County Commissioner Tim Ryan as chair.
He previously served as SFRTA chair from July 2016 to June 2017. Ryan was mayor of Broward County in 2014 and served in the Florida House of Representatives until 2006.
The board also elected Palm Beach County Commissioner Hal Valache as vice chair. He was elected to the Palm Beach County Board of County commissioners in 2012 and joined SFRTA’s board last year.
Valache is a navy veteran and has served on various boards, including those for Enterprise Florida, Space Florida, BioFlorida and the Florida Institute for Commercialization of Public Research.
