Pennsylvania DOT leader Richards named to transportation research committee

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Leslie Richards has been named vice chairman of the 2019 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Executive Committee.

The committee is the senior policy body of the TRB, which provides leadership in transportation innovation and progress through research and information exchange. Its 25 committee members are appointed by the chair of the National Research Council.

"I am honored and excited to be named to this prestigious national position," Richards said in a press release. "My goal is to bring the lessons learned in my role as a Pennsylvania transportation executive and advocate to enhance the important mission of the TRB."

Richards' appointment was announced as the TRB holds its 98th annual meeting this week in Washington, D.C.
