Miller succeeds Begeman as STB's vice chair

Surface Transportation Board (STB) Chairman Daniel Elliott III on Tuesday announced that Deb Miller has been designated as vice chairman.

Miller — who was sworn in as an STB member last month — succeeds Ann Begeman, who was vice chair from Jan. 4, 2013, to May 27, 2014, and will continue to serve as a board member. The STB's vice chairmanship rotates between its three members on an annual basis.

Prior to joining the STB, Miller was a senior consultant with Cambridge Systematics Inc., a firm specializing in transportation planning and policy. From 2003 to 2011, she served as secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). Miller previously was a consultant at HNTB Corp., a director of KDOT's Division of Planning and Development, a special assistant to Kansas' transportation secretary and a policy assistant to the governor of Kansas.
