Santa Clara VTA seeks input on environmental report for BART extension
advertisement
Tomorrow, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will hold a public hearing to obtain feedback on the Draft 2nd Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) for the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Silicon Valley project.
The report focuses on the 10-mile Berryessa extension, the first phase of the proposed project that calls for extending BART service 16.3 miles from Fremont to Milpitas, San Jose and Santa Clara, Calif. The Draft 2nd SEIR identifies the environmental impacts resulting from proposed design changes that have been made since the Final Supplemental Environmental Report was certified in June 2007.
VTA now proposes to build the project in phases, the first of which involves constructing a line from a future BART Warm Springs station in Fremont, through Milpitas to the Berryessa area north of San Jose.
