On Feb. 2, New Mexico’s Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) will open the final leg of the Rail Runner Express’ first phase and launch service between Los Lunas and Belen, making the entire 50-mile Belen-to-Bernalillo commuter-rail line open for business.

The agency also will add a third train to serve the Albuquerque-to-Belen corridor. Since the Rail Runner’s initial segment opened in July, the MRCOG has opened four additional stations. Earlier this month, the agency broke ground on a new station at Rio Bravo in Albuquerque’s south valley.
