Yesterday, Metra and local officials marked the opening of expanded parking facilities at Pingree Road Station on the Union Pacific Northwest Line in Crystal Lake, Ill.
The 400-space lot features an additional 338 parking spaces, four electronic payment boxes and new striping. Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the $574,900 project began in September and concluded earlier this month.
Metra expects to receive $140.9 million in ARRA dollars to help fund various projects, such as remanufacturing locomotives, replacing bridges, and expanding and renovating stations.
