The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is soliciting public input on choosing a design scheme for 20 new locomotives.
Starting today, visitors to www.mbta.com will have three options from which to choose. The online preference poll will be available for two weeks, MBTA officials said in a prepared statement.
“This is an exciting time for commuter rail, and we’d like to make our customers a part of it,” said MBTA General Manager Richard Davey.
MBTA is purchasing 20 new diesel-electric passenger locomotives from MotivePower Inc. The $114 million purchase is MBTA’s first major locomotive order in 20 years.
