The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority yesterday announced the light-rail A Line extension from Glendora to Pomona, California, will open Sept. 19 to the public.

The extension will serve communities across the San Gabriel Valley, which haven't been served by rail in decades, L.A. Metro officials said in a media advisory. The line features stops Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne and Pomona.

The project was constructed under the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority before being transferred to L.A. Metro for testing in late June

The extension also will be the ninth project completed in the transit agency's "Twenty-Eight by '28" initiative, a plan to enhance the regions transit infrastructure in time for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The new Metro A Line Pomona North Station will also provide a connection to Metrolink's San Bernardino Line.
