Keolis Commuter Services, which operates the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority commuter-rail system, has issued a request for proposals for an entity to finance new battery-electric, multiple-unit train sets.

Keolis is seeking proposals from qualified parties to purchase and lease the rolling stock planned to be introduced onto the MBTA's Fairmount Line in Boston in 2028, Keolis officials said in a press release.

In January, Keolis issued an RFP for an entity to design, manufacture, test and commission the new battery-electric units. Keolis officials anticipate finalizing contracts with the selected contractor in late 2025.

Financing proposals are due in August, Keolis officials said. Interested parties should contact rsprocurement@keoliscs.com
