GCRTA to add third Red Line train following lightning strike

Last week’s storm damage is continuing to cause delays on the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s (GCRTA) Red Line, authority officials announced yesterday.
Starting today, agency officials are “working on adding a third car to Red Line trains” to address capacity issues, GCRTA officials said in a prepared statement.
The line’s signals and switches continue to be operated manually as a result of a “massive” lightning strike that hit the Red Line’s signaling system July 22 at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, officials said.
