Today, the Federal Transit Administration plans to sign a Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) SunRail project.
The funding agreement will provide 50 percent of the capital funding needed for the commuter-rail project’s first phase: a 31-mile segment between DeBary and Orlando. The state will cover 25 percent of the cost and local funding partners in four counties and the city of Orlando will pay the remaining 25 percent.
FDOT plans to build a second phase of the line that would extend north to DeLand and south to Kissimmee and Poinciana.
