Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen members employed at the New York & Atlantic Railway (NY&A) recently ratified a new two-year agreement.
The new contract provides the NY&A workers a $1 per hour increase to all pay grades retroactive to June 1, 2025, and two general wage increases totaling 8% through the end of 2028.
Owned by Anacostia Rail Holdings, NY&A operates over 270 miles of track owned by MTA Long Island Rail Road in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, and employs a total of 59. The short line interchanges with Canadian Pacific Kansas City, CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway, New York New Jersey Rail LLC and Providence & Worcester Railroad.
A contract provision also provides a $10,000 retention payment contingent on NY&A’s right to continue operating over Long Island Rail Road’s track though at least May 11, 2030, with continuing service over the railroad’s existing service territory.
