Construction of the newest vehicle berth at the Jacksonville Port Authority’s (Jaxport) Blount Island Marine Terminal is 50% complete and on track to be finished in 2027.
The new Berth 21 is being built adjacent to the existing Berth 20 and will share a short causeway leading to vehicle first points of rest on the terminal. It will be the terminal's third dedicated vehicle berth.
“As one of the nation’s leading vehicle-handling ports, it’s important that we continue investing in the infrastructure needed to support future demand,” said Jaxport CEO Eric Green in a press release.
The project is part of a $60 million total investment to accommodate increasing auto vessel traffic at Blount Island. In 2025, Berth 22 was expanded to accommodate vehicle vessels up to 750 feet. The Florida Department of Transportation provided 75% of the Berth 21 project’s funds with Jaxport matching the remaining 25%.
The port is home to three auto processors: AMPORTS and Southeast Toyota Distributors at Blount Island, and Enstructure Auto Logistics at Talleyrand; in 2025, they moved more than 506,000 vehicles. CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway and Florida East Coast Railway serve the port.
