Located on a 300-acre parcel and adjacent to the railroad's mainline between Regina and Moose Jaw, the terminal increases intermodal capacity and enhances service reliability, CP officials said in a prepared statement. The terminal is designed to process up to 250,000 containers annually — five times more than the former Regina facility, they said.
"The opening of the new intermodal terminal will contribute to CP's commitment to supporting further growth with our customers and improving supply chain efficiency in the region," said Jane O'Hagan, the Class I's executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
The terminal joins Yanke Group of Companies, Loblaw and Consolidated Fastfrate facilities at the 1,700-acre GTH, which is a "positive extension" of the railroad's co-location strategy to position key distribution centers adjacent to high-capacity intermodal facilities, she said.
