BNSF Railway Co. yesterday announced it now is offering an expedited intermodal service from Los Angeles to Houston.
The three-day service provides shippers with a fast, consistent and reliable connection between the two major metropolitan areas, BNSF officials said in a press release.
“By continuing to create more opportunities to convert over-the-road freight to rail, we provide a cost-effective, direct solution to bring freight to the dynamic and growing Houston area," said Jon Gabriel, BNSF group vice president, consumer products.
The service extends from BNSF's Hobart intermodal facility in Los Angeles to its Pearland intermodal facility in the Houston area via BNSF's Southern Transcon route. The service optimizes shippers' supply chains, especially for those draying freight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Houston, BNSF officials said.
