Amtrak has noted recent progress on station and platform improvements at its Saratoga Springs Station in New York that’s served daily by Adirondack and Ethan Allen Express trains.
Demolition and trackwork have started, representing the project’s biggest step to date, Amtrak officials said in a press release.
Work at the station — which handled nearly 38,000 riders in fiscal-year 2025 — includes building a new 600-foot-long level boarding platform featuring an integrated snow melt system; installing LED light fixtures at the platform; establishing new station and wayfinding signage; and installing a new microphone and speaker system for the ticket counter.
Work is slated for completion in summer 2027. The Federal Railroad Administration has provided $12.5 million for the project.
“These improvements support [our] goals to enhance the customer experience, make travel for families easier, and bring greater integrated and comprehensive accessibility to our stations all across the country,” said Amtrak Vice President and Chief Accessibility Officer David Handera.
The Amtrak ADA Stations Program is advancing 134 station designs and more than 100 station construction projects as part of an ongoing objective to enhance accessibility at the facilities by 2029, Amtrak officials said.
