•    Bombardier Transportation’s MOVIA metro trains used by the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. incorporate the Bombardier MITRAC propulsion system and regenerative braking, which has resulted in Delhi Metro becoming the first rail project in the world to receive carbon credits for regenerative braking, according to Bombardier. The trains’ propulsion system and regenerative braking can generate up to 30 percent energy savings, earning Delhi Metro more than 20 million Indian rupees  ($446,000 U.S. dollars) under a United Nations-backed initiative to combat climate change.

•    TUV Rheinland Rail Services Inc. (TUV RSI) has upgraded and moved its Omaha testing and metallurgical analysis laboratory to a new facility in nearby La Vista, Neb. The new lab will enable TUV RSI to offer its range of applied mechanical and materials engineering services, along with other offerings, including advanced chemical analysis, according to TUV RSI. Advanced chemical analysis services will be offered after the lab’s new glow discharge spectrometer is installed within the next three months.
