Union Switch & Signal obtains Sacramento RTD contract

Sacramento Regional Transit District recently awarded a contract to Union Switch & Signal Inc. (US&S) to design, furnish and test a signaling system for its Folsom Corridor light-rail extension.
US&S plans to incorporate two end-of-siding interlockings controlled by its MicroLok® II Wayside Control System.
The eight-mile, four-station extension also will include 15 highway crossings featuring the supplier’s Model 95 Gate Mechanism and associated hardware. US&S will install its Power Frequency and Audio Frequency Overlay track circuits on the line to detect trains at each crossing.
The Folsom Corridor is scheduled for completion in 2005.
