Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight

Rail supplier updates from GE, CH2M, ZTR, Predikto; and, in memoriam: Harsco Corp.'s Derek Hathaway (Oct. 28)

GE has signed a letter of intent for a multi-year maintenance service agreement for 50 CC206 diesel-electric locomotives in PT Kereta Api (KAI) Indonesia's rail fleet. GE has worked with PT KAI, Indonesia's public rail operator, for more than 60 years and has brought 350 locomotives to the country.

CH2M has been awarded a program management contract for the Metrolinx Regional Express Rail (RER) program, which is aimed at increasing capacity and reducing travel times. The company's scope of work involves advancing the transit agency's project controls capability to enhance and support the RER program management office as Metrolinx rolls out its network-wide electrification program.

Amarjit Soora, manager of engineering at ZTR Control Systems, received the 2015 Most Valuable Person award from the Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association (LMOA). The award was presented in recognition of service and contributions made to the LMOA Diesel Electrical Committee, where Soora serves as vice chair.

Predikto Inc. yesterday announced the opening of its first European office and the expansion of its worldwide team. The company also announced that software industry veteran Carl Fransman was appointed managing director, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). He'll be joined by Philippe Thys, director of solutions and innovation for Predikto.

Derek Hathaway, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harsco Corp., died last week following an extended illness. He was 71. Hathaway joined Harsco's world headquarters in 1984. He became involved in the wider management of the Harsco, first serving as senior vice president of operations of the company's engineered products group and later as president and chief operating officer. Under his leadership, the company significantly expanded its role as a provider of multi-industry industrial services on an international scale, Harsco officials said.
