Wabtec Corp. announced it will support the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport Systems (RRTS) with critical component orders valued at about $15 million for new rolling stock. The company will supply advanced technology brake systems, pantographs, roof disconnector switches and fully integrated passenger information systems to Alstom, which is building the coaches for the project. The order covers 30 regional commuter trains each with six cars and 10 metro trains each with four cars, which will be built at Alstom’s Savli plant in India. Meanwhile, Wabtec reported its FLXdrive battery locomotive was announced as the winner in the transportation category of Fast Company’s 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards. That news follows Wabtec winning the Gold Stevie Award for Company of the Year in the Automotive and Transport Equipment category. The company was honored as the Gold Stevie® Award Winner in the 2021 American Business Awards.

Jacobs was selected by RTS Operations Sdn Bhd to deliver consultancy services to help shape the future of rapid transit between Malaysia and Singapore. Jacobs will provide consultancy services for the design, manufacturing, delivery, testing and commissioning of all systems for the Johor Bahru-to-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link, a new 2.5-mile light rail line. The Link will provide a vital second rail crossing over the Johor Straits.
