Wabtec Corp. has completed its acquisition of Evident’s Inspection Technologies division, formerly part of the Scientific Solutions division of Olympus Corp. The acquisition helps accelerate Wabtec's growth and meets the increasing demand for advanced diagnostic technologies, Wabtec officials said in a press release. In addition, the acquisition effectively doubles the size of Wabtec's total addressable market from $8 billion to $16 billion, while enhancing its ability to deliver innovative solutions to a broader range of customers. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. yesterday announced net earnings of $60 million, or $1.86 per share, on revenue of $843 million in its third fiscal quarter of 2025, which ended May 31. The company reported new rail-car orders for 3,900 units valued at more than $500 million and deliveries of 5,600 units, resulting in a new rail-car backlog of 18,900 units with an estimated value of $2.5 billion, according to a company press release.

STV Inc. has hired Richard Barrett to serve as vice president and New York signals manager within the firm's national rail and transit systems practice. Barrett has 38 years of industry experience in management, design, procurement, integration, construction and in-service testing of train control and communications systems for railroads and rail transit agencies, according to an STV press release. Most recently he served as the systems and signal lead for Amtrak’s Gateway Hudson River Tunnel Project, where he oversaw the signals systems design for a new Hudson Tunnel between Penn Station in New York and Erie Interlocking in New Jersey.

Hitachi Rail has completed the latest signaling deployment on the London Underground’s Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. The deployment represents the most technically challenging milestone to date in Transport for London’s Four Lines Modernization (4LM) project, London’s largest ever signaling upgrade, according to a Hitachi Rail press release. This latest phase covers the Neasden Depot area, London Underground’s largest, and marks the most intricate deployment of Hitachi Rail’s communications-based train control technology in the 4LM program to date.
