House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) recently met with executives from BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad, HDR Inc. and the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) for a tour of the Tower 55 project in Fort Worth, Texas. The $104 million project is aimed at decreasing congestion at the four-way intersection which moves about 100 trains per day.

Alstom signed a $2.2 million contract with Brazil's Empresa de Trens Urbanos de Porto Alegre (Trensub) to provide preventative maintenance services for 15 trains in its fleet. The contract will span five years, and it begins this month.

AXION has obtained $1.71 million in orders for its plated ECOTRAX tunnel ties from the Eastern Rail Corporation. The tracks will be used on a northeast-based transit line, and they are scheduled for installation in early spring.

RADWIN announced March 10 that it had completed installation of onboard Wi-Fi for the Moscow Metro. The services encompass 650 trains along 400 miles of track.

Global travel payment network UATP announced earlier this week that SilverRail Technologies has joined its network. The move will allow UATP subscribers to purchase European and North American train tickets through SilverRail with their UATP card.
