Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight

Rail supplier news from Appalachian Railcar, Railway Interchange 2013 and Marquette Rail (Aug. 26)

Appalachian Railcar Services Inc. plans to establish a new facility in Earl Park, Ind. Based in Eleanor, W.Va., the company expects to spend $1.4 million to lease, build and equip an 8,000-square-foot facility at 700 N. U.S. Highway 41. To be operational by December, the new plant will provide the company with additional resources for rail-car storage and repair. The new facility is expected to create up to 22 jobs by 2015.

Early registration rates have been extended to Sept. 10 for the exhibition and Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA) technical conference at Railway Interchange 2013, which will be held in Indianapolis Sept. 29-Oct. 2 at the Indiana Convention Center. The early registration date for the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association's portion of the conference has passed.

The Federal Railroad Administration has approved Marquette Rail L.L.C.'s product safety plan as outlined in 49 CFR Part 236 Sub Part H, which will enable Marquette Rail to use RailSoft Systems Inc.'s TrackAccess Track Reservation System in the autonomous mode, according to a company press release.
