Alstom has been awarded a contract worth $169.7 million by the Swedish operator Skanetrafiken to supply 25 Coradia Nordic regional trains for Skane region, in the south of Sweden. The trains will be delivered starting April 2017. Alstom is in charge of the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the 25 Coradia Nordic trains. Each train will include four cars with a capacity to carry up to 510 passengers.The Greenbrier Cos. announced the following executive promotions and a new hire. Alejandro Centurion and Jim Sharp have been named corporate executive vice presidents. Centurion, who most recently was president of Greenbrier North American Manufacturing Operations, will also expand his role in that post, which includes responsibility for North America, Europe, China and Brazil. Sharp continues as president of Greenbrier Leasing Co., a position he has held since 2004. Also, Brad Skinner has joined the company as vice president of business development. Additionally, Brian Comstock will serve in a newly created position as senior vice president. He will manage commercial activity in Mexico, Brazil and Latin America. Comstock also continues as general manager of marketing and sales with responsibility for the U.S. and CanadaGeorgetown Rail Equipment Co. (GREX) has received a notice of allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the company's recently released X-ray backscatter inspection technology. GREX was the first to introduce this new internal tie inspection solution for the railroad industry, company officials said in a press release. The technology is designed to find flaws deep within track components that traditional inspection methods might not reveal. Aurora Xi™ builds upon the technology of the GREX Aurora® track inspection system that has used to scan over 115,000 miles of track in North America. The first Aurora Xi™ hi-rail vehicles are currently in production and will enter service in May.Nomad Digital has been chosen to provide the passenger WiFi solution for Union Pearson Express, which will connect Canada's two busiest transportation hubs: Union Station in downtown Toronto and Toronto Pearson International Airport. Nomad will provide a portal with multilingual and wide device support, platform to train roaming, and real-time customer support for Union Pearson Express passengers.WAGO has hired Carlos Ruiz as regional sales manager for the South Florida region. Prior to joining WAGO, Ruiz held business development positions at Anixter and Stride Laboratories.Registration and hotel reservations have opened for Railway Interchange 2015, the combined exhibition and technical conference to be held October 4-7 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
