A. Stucki Co. announced the appointment of Eric Carter as vice president and general manager of Birmingham Rail, a Stucki company and supplier of new and reconditioned rail, turnout and switch material for the rail industry. Carter will oversee all operations at the company's locations in Birmingham, Alabama, Houston, Texas, and Youngstown, Ohio. Carter most recently served as CEO of Geismar North America. Before that he was VP at Protran Technology, a New Jersey-based provider of safety systems for rail and other transportation industries.
Wabtec Corp. announced an agreement to provide KinetiX Inspection Technologies to Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer français (SNCF) Voyageurs. The order enables the French national railway company to enhance the safety, efficiency and reliability of its rail network. The agreement expands the existing use of KinetiX Systems at 13 SNCF technical centers across France for axle maintenance and acoustic bearing monitoring, with the addition of TreadView, WheelView and BrakeView inspection systems. Wabtec will support the implementation with a dedicated team to guide SNCF Voyageurs from installation to ongoing maintenance of the technology. A financial value of the agreement was not disclosed in the press release.
STV Inc. announced Benjamin Crawford has been promoted to vice president and Chris Hertz to head of the firm's national rail and transit systems practice. Crawford will continue to serve as STV’s chief engineer of overhead contact systems (OCS) design. He joined STV in 2017 to lead the OCS design team on major transit programs including the Amtrak Hudson River Gateway Tunnel. Hertz will oversee the practice that includes signal and communications, traction power, OCS and rail operations. Hertz joined STV in 2002 and has worked with clients to provide services for electronic security, data network, supervisory control and data acquisition, intelligent transportation systems, real-time information and other systems.
