Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight
RMI recently launched Rail 2020 Certification, a rail certification program for administrative and technical best practices.
Available to the company’s more than 300 railroad customers, the program is designed to ensure a railroad is getting the most out of RMI’s RailConnect® transportation and equipment management systems. Rail 2020 Certification can determine if a customer is implementing the right combination of technology, such as Automatic Equipment Identification readers, remote crew reporting and Web-based shipper interfaces, and taking advantage of automated processes.
RMI will begin accepting certification applications in June. To be considered, railroads must complete an evaluation form and undergo a review process conducted by a Rail 2020 Certification specialist. Railroads will be evaluated according to TRAIN II reporting timeliness; automated capture of rail-car movement events, billing and charges; and data quality.
Certified railroads will receive a certificate and seal that can be placed on locomotives, cars and business communications. RMI will list railroads that receive certification — which is valid for one year — in a Rail 2020 directory.
“[The] certification program recognizes and endorses railroads that are operating at an exceptional level,” said RMI Vice President of Marketing Paul Pascutti in a prepared statement.
