Plasser American Corp. today will mark the opening of its new 82,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, Virginia. The plant features "state-of-the-art technology" that will enable the company to more efficiently manufacture machines for the rail industry, according to a Plasser American press release. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is among the state dignitaries and company officials expected to attend today's ribbon-cutting ceremony.

L.B. Foster Co. announced that its North American strategic partnership with Fuchs Lubricants Co., a global independent lubricant manufacturer, will be extended to additional rail markets in South America, Australia and China.The partnership combines L.B. Foster’s expertise in the deployment of total friction management for the rail industry with Fuchs’ manufacturing capabilities and lubrication solutions for railway traffic.

H.W. Lochner Inc., an infrastructure and engineering services planning firm, announced John Tipton has joined as senior program manager in the firm's transit and rail practice.Tipton is former interim chief engineer for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (Trinity Metro) and has served as program/project manager and technical adviser to major transit and rail initiatives in Texas and Arizona.

Industrial Networks LLC (INet) announced its SMRTag system fully automates rail-car inventory collection for industrial rail yards. SMRTag uses IoT-based location and asset management technologies that enable single-point collection of multiple rail cars for industrial shipping and storage facilities.
