Progress Rail announced a change in the legal entity name from ECM S.p.A. to Progress Rail Signaling S.p.A. While the subsidiary's name is changing, ECM will remain a product brand for Progress Rail. The registration was filed July 18 with the Pistoia Cos. Register. With this change, ECM is now formally recognized as Progress Rail, a manufacturer of ECM-branded signaling components and systems.

ZF will produce a newly developed two-stage spur gear drive for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The first units will be delivered in July 2023 and used in Hitachi Rail's new WMATA 8000 series of vehicles.

Ballard Power Systems announced a fuel-cell module order from Medha Servo Drives, a rail-system integrator contracted by Indian Railways to develop India's first hydrogen-powered trains. The two retrofitted diesel-electric commuter trains will integrate eight units of Ballard's latest fuel cell technology. The fuel-cell modules are expected to be shipped in 2023.

Pandrol announced the launch of the CD100 B, an emission-free portable clipping machine designed for clipping and declipping of the Pandrol FE, FC and FCX Fastclips. As part of the machine's ergonomic design, a weight-bearing wheel runs along the rail, dramatically reducing the physical strain on the operator and making it safer and more convenient for users, Pandrol officials said in a press release.
