Portec Rail Inc. has expanded the responsibilities of independent representative Mid-Atlantic Enterprises Inc. to include East Coast transits and Amtrak.

In the "team-leader" role, Mid-Atlantic Enterprises — headed by Mike Jirka — is responsible for sales and customer support of Portec Rail's Friction Force® Lubrication/Friction Management Solutions, as well as the company's insulated rail joint and track component product lines.

KELLTECH Inc.'s Bob Kells, who's been Portec Rail's East Coast and Amtrak rep, now has a supplemental support role/consultant; he'll work with Jirka, who'll also coordinate efforts with Kevin Adkins, Portec Rail senior field sales and service representative-Eastern Region.

"Through his efforts with Norfolk Southern, [Jirka] brings hands-on knowledge of the close working relationship Portec Rail has developed with freight railroads and transit systems worldwide," said Bruce Wise, Portec Rail's vice president-marketing and sales, in a prepared statement. "Our goal is that Mike's new role as team leader, together with Bob Kells and Kevin Adkins, will enable Portec Rail to achieve an even higher-level of customer service built upon the long-running excellence these accounts have come to expect."
