Congressman Polis visits Encore Rail Systems' plant in Colorado
U.S. Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) on Wednesday joined representatives from Encore Rail Systems Inc. for a product demonstration and discussion of public policy priorities for greater Denver's manufacturing and rail communities.
The Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA) coordinated the event, which was held at Encore's facility in Broomfield, Colo. Encore Vice President Greg Spilker led the group. Other attendees included Nick Delmonico, sales operations manager at Encore; Forrest Mars, chief executive officer of Denver Rock Island Railroad; Julie Slagle, marketing manager at OmniTRAX; and Sean Winkler, grassroots coordinator at REMSA.
Founded in 1997, Encore provides tie plugging, rail seat abrasion prevention and repair equipment, compounds and aftermarket service support.
"It is crucial for our industry to educate our policymakers on how railroads and rail suppliers are contributing to sustainable economic and community growth," said Spilker in a press release.
The group also discussed the Building Rail Access for Customers and the Economy (BRACE) Act, which would make the short-line tax credit permanent to enable small railroads to make more infrastructure investments. The bill has more than 135 bipartisan cosponsors in the House.
