Burlington Junction Railway (BJRY) yesterday announced it signed a long-term rail switching agreement with the city of Clinton, Iowa, for the Lincolnway Rail and Air Industrial Park.
Stretching 450 acres on Clinton’s west side, the industrial park is served by the Union Pacific Railroad. The park is a certified site with both UP and the city, according to BJRY.
The short line will provide rail-car switching services to all park tenants, including a new Atlas Roofing Corp. shingle manufacturing facility and new Clausen Trucking & Warehousing transload/warehouse facility.
“I am excited to build the relationships with the current customers of the industrial park and for the additional development potential in the upcoming years,” said BJRY President and CEO Peter Hoth in a press release. "Being able to act as a bridge between the communities we serve, our customers, transload partners and the Class I railroads facilitates these opportunities.”
BJRY also serves customer locations elsewhere on UP’s network as well as along lines operated by BNSF Railway, CN, CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway. In operation since 1985, the short line provides rail-car switching services for 100 customers in 20 locations across Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee.
