SelecTie Windows-compatible computer software for comparing the economics of wood and concrete ties for specific track conditions for Class I roads and for passenger transit systems is now being licensed by the Railway Tie Association (RTA). The model, developed for RTA by ZETA-TECH, analyzes alternatives by evaluating such variables as curvature, grade, speed, labor costs, interest rates and fuel differences. The software incorporates data from railroad engineers, AAR, equipment manufacturers, academicians and other sources. It is continuously updated to incorporate the latest R&D and in-track data. The agreement permits licensees to use the model at all locations for a one-time charge.
