The Plasser 09-16 DYNACAT is a heavy-duty, high speed, and continuous-action switch and production track-tamping machine with an integral dynamic track stabilizer. All tamping, lifting and lining units are mounted on a separate satellite frame that is attached to the main frame. While the satellite indexes from tie to tie during the actual work process (lifting, lining, cross leveling, and tamping), the machine's main frame, with stabilizer system, moves smoothly and continuously at a speed determined by the operator. The operator's cabin, power unit, main hydraulic components, electronic systems, etc., are installed on the main frame. In addition to the advantage of having less vibration and stress transmitted to the main part of the machine which reduces maintenance and down time, the 09-16 DYNACAT's unique design and construction allows production rates of up to 2,800 ft. per hour. This production capability is especially important for high-density railways, where track availability is minimal.
