Handling Specialty Inc.: Split Rail System for Wheelset Change-Out

Handling Specialty says its split rail system allows rolling stock wheelsets to be changed out efficiently. Each system comprises a split rail assembly and a lift/eject carriage. Once a rail car has been positioned, the 40,000-pound capacity lift carriage raises the car for blocking. The section of split rail then can be removed to allow the lift carriage to drop the wheelset. Once the wheelset has been lowered, the carriage traverses horizontally with it and rotates 90 degrees for ejection. Lift/eject carriage controls are via remote operator pendant.
