The GURU PC® Valve from ThermOmegaTech® protects passenger rail potable water systems from freeze related damage when cabin heat is turned off. Installed at the lowest point in the water system, the thermostatic valve continuously monitors ambient temperature and automatically opens at its 35°F (1.6°C) set point to drain the system before freezing occurs. This helps prevent frozen tanks, cracked piping, and costly maintenance issues without external power, electronics, or operator intervention. Built for harsh rail environments, the GURU PC® Valve delivers reliable, self-actuating performance trusted by passenger rail operators to help keep equipment operational in extreme temperatures. To minimize delays in returning rail cars to service after a valve activation, ThermOmegaTech® recommends using our electric heater assembly. The heater attaches directly to the valve's thermal actuator and quickly reheats it once power is restored, allowing the valve to close rapidly. This enables maintenance personnel to refill the potable water system and promptly return the car to operation while reducing downtime after a drain event.
