The PGRM is designed to test gauge restraint variances quickly and accurately by applying a load of 4,000 pounds at a fixed point on the web of rails. The resultant gauge movement may indicate that corrective action is required. The body is made of square steel tubing with aluminium end blocks, internal cylinder and a replaceable hand pump with an easily read pressure gauge. The gauge is insulated so it will not set off track signals. The instrument is designed with two-piece construction for easy storage and transport, with safety pin and chain. A padded carrying strap is included.
