The Intelligent Maintenance Scheduler (IMS) integrates the railroad's train service plan with its track maintenance plan to generate a conflict-free solution. The solution specifies the daily work windows for each track gang as well as the necessary train delays, reroutes and annulments. Overall, IMS maximizes the size of the work windows while minimizing the number and length of the train service disruptions, the company says. IRS says its user interface is easy to learn and provides a full complement of graphical views and text reports, adding that it is currently used by most large, North American railroads.
