The American Air Filter AmerKleen and AmerKleen EL (extended life) cartridges are the only bag-type engine intake air filters that meet all OEM specifications, including air-cleaning efficiency, dust-holding capacity and sloughing factor, according to the manufacturer. Reduced pressure drop realized on AmerKleen-equipped locomotives can afford substantial fuel savings when compared to locomotives equipped with barrier-type pleated air filters, the company says. AmerKleen cartridges, as well as all carbody-type filter media manufactured by AAF, will not support combustion, in strict compliance with AAR flammability restrictions. AAF International has been certified as a quality vendor by the NAPM-Rail Industry Group under AAR Standard M-1003.
