Atrex Energy, Inc. manufactures fuel-efficient propane- or natural gas-fueled solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) remote power generators that power C&S and PTC applications in dark territory, both at wayside and remote (e.g., mountaintop relay) sites. SOFCs have remote monitoring capability, are highly fuel-efficient, quiet, small, unobtrusive, and require no external reformers ahead of the SOFC. SOFCs require no fluid changes, having only fans and blowers for moving parts. Emitting only water vapor and modest amounts of CO2, they are eligible for significant energy investment tax credits.
