The R4-EM Electromechanical Rotary Latch from Southco Inc. delivers the convenience of electronic access control with the security of a robust rotary latch in a compact, integrated package. Easy push-to-close operation and electronic actuation simplify access across a wide variety of rail applications where concealed security and access control is required. The R4-EM series is powered by 12 to 24 VDC with minimal current consumption, and offers a simple, optional mechanical override. The microcontroller inside the latch accepts control inputs from any access control device. It also has the power to open or close against heavy mechanical loads. An optional internal microswitch provides a latch status signal for remote monitoring. The R4-EM series is also available with automatic and delayed relock, allowing a door to automatically pop open when the signal is received, or remain in the unlocked state as long as the signal is present.
