Quest Corp.: Apollolite 6 Locomotive Headlight and Ditch Light Controller

Quest Corp. has unveiled the Apollolite 6 Locomotive Headlight and Ditch Light Controller. Based on the design of the earlier Apollolite 5, the AP6 powers any combination of four incandescent lamps and LEDs.

This permits gradual changeover from incandescents to LEDs rather than a total locomotive change-out, the company said in a press release. For headlights, the AP6 provides bright, medium and dim operation. The product also eliminates headlight circuit dropping resistors, along with the wasteful heat and high maintenance. 

For ditch lights, the AP6 controls steady-state or pulsing operation. The product provides constant, regulated voltage lamp outputs over the entire input power range and interfaces with existing switches and wiring. The AP6 is also capable of MU interfacing for multiple locomotive operation, provides lamp burn-out detection and interfaces with event recorders.
