Progress Rail: EMD Uptime analytics platform

EMD Uptime, powered by Uptake, is a next generation analytics platform for condition based maintenance. This application enables users to monitor and take action on a railroad's operations to improve asset utilization, optimize efficiency and performance, and ultimately increase profitability. The platform uses data intelligence to deliver customer value by providing actionable insights to help railroads minimize or eliminate unplanned downtime, according to Progress Rail.

Progress Rail and EMD also use this data to continually improve their locomotives and services, and help solve problems in the rail industry.
EMD Uptime features include:

• real-time fleet monitoring and analytics surrounding locomotive fault and operating parameters;
• cloud-based portal providing scalable user access and performance;
• mobility applications including metrics, key performance indicators and dashboards;
• automatically generated locomotive troubleshooting guides and repair recommendations; and
• advanced algorithms for failure prediction.

These features are "only the beginning" of a suite of applications being created by Progress Rail and EMD to tackle some of the most challenging problems facing the global rail industry, the companies said. The platform provides a comprehensive locomotive health score, which helps rail operators manage risk by showcasing which locomotives are the "healthiest."

Yard masters can then choose to place those units with the most critical trains. In turn, railroads can keep "unhealthy" locomotives, or those needing service, near their maintenance yards.
