WMATA promotes Kubicek to rail operations head

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently named Dave Kubicek assistant general manager for rail operations delivery. He will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the 106-mile Metrorail system, which includes 86 stations.

Kubicek joined WMATA in May as AGM-chief mechanical officer. He previously was deputy executive officer of rail fleet services for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Kubicek began his transportation career at Dallas Area Rapid Transit, rising from technician to senior manager of rail fleet services.

WMATA soon will appoint a managing director to oversee the agency’s Red, Blue, Orange, Yellow and Green line managers, and the Operations Control Center.
